Hofstra University School of Law, in Hempstead, N.Y., is gearing up to launch its first part-time program in the fall. The law school is marketing its new part-time program to non-traditional students who have a flexible work schedule, like nurses and law enforcement officers, or have child-care responsibilities or disabilities that prevent them from carrying a full, five-course load.
“The reason we are experimenting with this program is because we really believe that there are segments of very interesting students out there who would make good lawyers, whom we are not serving,” said Stuart Rabinowitz, the law school’s dean.
