Network Solutions, the Virginia-based keeper of Internet domain names, returned to the financing trough by staging the largest public offering recorded to date in the Internet sector. The secondary offering raised about $2.2 billion, giving the company an infusion of cash and also pumping fees into Pillsbury Madison & Sutro, which served as counsel on the deal. The massive deal is a plum for Pillsbury and is also indicative of the growing use of secondary offerings as a tool to raise cash.
