A Drexel University doctoral student who was expelled from his doctoral program is entitled to either a full refund or readmittance to the program because the university and some of its professors acted in an “arbitrary and capricious manner,” a common pleas court judge has ruled.

After an April trial, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Esther R. Sylvester ruled last week that the university breached its contract with Robert Morein, a doctoral candidate in electrical and computer engineering.
