The son of one of America’s biggest Democratic fund-raisers and lobbyists for Israel has admitted to invading the chambers of a federal judge in New Jersey in order to illegally download steamy e-mails between his law-clerk wife and her alleged lover and to steal telltale hotel receipts.

Douglas Steiner, the son of political operative David Steiner, quietly pleaded guilty to a federal magistrate judge on Feb. 18 to stealing personal files from the computer of his wife, who at the time was clerking for U.S. District Judge Alfred Wolin in Newark, N.J.
