In a grand display of “Big Game” fervor — the last true bastion of fascism still around — pranksters at Palo Alto, Calif.’s Fenwick & West took pre-game aim at chairman and Stanford alum Gordy Davidson. The day before Stanford and the University of California at Berkeley met on the gridiron, unidentified Bears fans flooded Davidson’s office from floor to ceiling with hundreds of yellow and blue balloons. So many balloons that Davidson had to wade through chest-high just to get to his desk. The chairman has fingered some suspects, but he says no one has confessed to the crime. And it was Davidson who got the last laugh. Stanford creamed Cal 31-13. Mysteriously enough, a poor stuffed bear was later found in the office of partner and Cal fan Jeffrey Vetter — an ax through its neck.
