On Nov. 15, the U.S. Supreme Court decided to hear an appeal of Doe v. Santa Fe Independent School District, the 1999 ruling banning student-led prayer at high school football games.

The court’s order has been hailed as a victory for Santa Fe and other school districts outraged at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that pre-game prayer violates the Constitution’s establishment clause, which mandates the separation of church and state.
