Missionary work often is unwelcome as Pope John Paul II learned in India last week. People deeply convinced of their beliefs do not easily shed them.

So it is for other sorts of missionaries, too, people who feel called upon to deliver a message, though not out of religious zeal -or any zeal. Many of these people would rather not take on the role of educator and do so only because the alternative-silence-seems worse.
