But in the Bay Area, Covington & Burling doesn't carry quite the same cachet, particularly in Silicon Valley, where the firm -- which opened a San Francisco office in June -- hopes to make a big splash in the IP pool. "We have a lot of people out there who know nothing about our practice," says Snipes.
