For as long as anyone can remember, the results of polygraph tests have been strictly verboten in criminal courts because of their unreliability. But a recent ruling by a Texas appellate court says even if the state improperly introduces such evidence, the defense is not allowed to explore it. Some criminal law experts believe the ruling, if allowed to stand, could set the Texas Rules of Evidence on their collective ear.
