SPARTA-A simple loitering charge heard Wednesday in this city’s Municipal Court triggered an ugly courthouse confrontation between Sparta police and an Atlanta lawyer.

What transpired between attorney H. Michael Harvey, who had been in court representing a client, and Sparta Police Chief Ronnie Evans and two other officers is in dispute. But, by that day’s end, the incident had generated criminal charges against both sides.
