Little Rock, Ark.–Despite his having been cited for civil contempt, President Clinton is not likely to lose his law license in Arkansas, say lawyers in that state who defend attorneys accused of ethics violations.

Eschewing a stronger finding of criminal contempt, U.S. District Judge Susan Webber Wright, of Little Rock, found the president in civil contempt on April 12, noting that in a 1998 deposition, Mr. Clinton had given intentionally false testimony when he denied having had a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky. The testimony was given as part of the Paula Jones sexual harassment suit, Jones v. Clinton, No. 94-290.
