Southern District U.S. AttorneyMary Jo White has blocked the Museum of Modern Art from sending a painting,allegedly stolen by the Nazis, back to Austria, despite a New York Courtof Appeals ruling Tuesday that ordered the painting’s return.

Ms. White issued a seizurewarrant for one of two Egon Schiele paintings � “Portrait of Wally” � Tuesdaynight, the museum said. That warrant could stop the museum from sendingthe painting back to the Leopold Foundation in Vienna.
