iVillage, an online women’s network focusing on parenting, health, money and work, acquired Lamaze Publishing Co. Aug. 20 in a deal worth $86.7 million. The Darien, Connecticut-based Lamaze posted revenues of $11 million in 1998. The company is the exclusive marketing agent of Lamaze International, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. According to Lamaze CEO Bruce Failing, Lamaze Publishing provides over three-quarters of the English- and Spanish-speaking families in the U.S. with information about childbirth and parenting. Richard Smith, a partner specializing in corporate law at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, led the team representing New York-based iVillage. Howard Kailes and Robert Wexler, partners at Saddle Brook, N.J.’s Krugman & Kailes, represented Lamaze.
