LOS ANGELES — A judge has cleared the way for A&M Records founders Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss to boost the amount they are seeking in their lawsuit against PolyGram from $5.6 million to $200 million.

In their original suit, trumpeter Alpert and his partner claimed PolyGram shorted them $3.63 million in 1994 earnings and $2 million in a mishandled Canadian tax refund claim.
