A rift has developed among the federal judges of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on a question that appears deceptively simple: How long is the statute of limitations for Pennsylvania's bad-faith insurance law? Unfortunately, the law itself does not contain a limitations period, and the state Supreme Court has never ruled on the issue. As a result, federal judges are forced to predict how the state's high court would decide the issue. Now two schools of thought are debating it.
