The American Bar Association has indefinitely postponed any decision onallowing lawyers to split fees and form partnerships with nonlawyer professionals.

Tuesday afternoon, the ABA’s House of Delegates overwhelmingly adopteda report stating that it would not change those rules unless and untilfurther study showed changes would benefit the public without sacrificinglawyers’ independence or loyalty to clients.
