President Bill Clinton is expected to be among the 10,000 lawyers coming to Atlanta next month for the annual meeting of the American Bar Association. Clinton will speak Aug. 9. The last time a president addressed the group was in 1985 when Ronald Reagan spoke at a meeting in Washington. Other speakers expected during the week include: Consumer advocate Ralph Nader, political consultant James Carville and former U.S. Attorney General Griffin B. Bell.

Allan J. Tanenbaum, an Atlanta lawyer chairing the week-long event, saysClinton will speak Monday, Aug. 9, at the World Congress Center. The speechwill occur during the event’s “opening ceremonies,” which originally werescheduled for Aug. 7.
