Once considered merely a steppingstone to other positions, the job ofparalegal has become a full-fledged career. And the fact that legalassistants are staying in the profession more than a few years hasinspired firms to invest more in them, both financially andprofessionally.

It certainly shows in salaries. Entry level candidates are beingoffered from $28,000 to $30,000 at the high end, and experienced legalassistants can command salaries over $50,000. It is not unusual for aseasoned, competent legal assistant to go on four interviews and, within days, receive three job offers.
