A jury returns a not guilty verdict against a drunk-driving defendant who’s been on trial in your courtroom for the last three days.
In an unusual move, a Florida judge has declared a mistrial in a case where the jury acquitted the defendant. Broward County Court Judge Peggy Gehl declared the mistrial after repeated run-ins with defense lawyer Fred Haddad. Haddad lambasted Gehl, saying, "She's so right-wing that she's just anti-defendant. She ought to be sitting in wills and trust cases. Gehl was equally combative. "He refuses to comply with the rules. It's the law according to Fred Haddad," according to the judge.
