Edward E. Boshears says he was only doing his job as a state senator when he publicly accused an ex-congressman of wrongdoing. Last week a Georgia court disagreed, ruling that state law does not shield Boshears from a defamation suit filed by former U.S. Rep. R. Lindsay Thomas. Thomas says Boshears defamed him in 1997 by saying Thomas used political influence to get a lease to hunting land.
