At first, there was some discomfort at Albany Law School with the idea of inviting “disgraced former chief judge” Sol Wachtler to deliver the prestigious Robert Jackson Lecture to the Student Bar Association. After all, when then-Chief Judge Wachtler left Albany seven years ago, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was in pursuit and would soon arrest him on harassment charges, ending his career and landing him in federal prison.

And then they remembered what he had done before the ignominious downfall.
