WASHINGTON James “Hart” Holden, most recently head of the U.S. regulatory antitrust practice at New York’s Clifford Chance, has joined Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker as of counsel in the firm’s corporate department, resident in its Washington office. Holden, who served at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for 15 years before leaving as the former deputy assistant director for the Competition Bureau in 2004, focuses his practice on antitrust issues related to transactional matters involving numerous industries including healthcare, telecommunications, transportation, energy, industrial equipment, chemicals, retail consumer goods, trade associations and intellectual property. He has successfully handled hundreds of Hart Scott-Rodino matters, including multi-billion dollar transactions before the FTC and the U.S. Department of Justice. “Hart complements Paul Hastings’ existing antitrust capabilities and brings another dimension deep experience and expertise in regulatory and antitrust issues that will allow us to assist clients with a wide range of antitrust matters,” said Robert Miller, chair of the corporate department. “As the market becomes more complex it will be important to have top-tier professionals to navigate the regulatory process.”
