CHICAGO — Cozen O’Connor, a historically Philadelphia-based law firm, shook up its management ranks over the past week and appointed a diverse group of four new managing partners to lead five of its 21 U.S. offices. Cozen appointed three new managing partners for each of Dallas, Chicago, and San Diego and a single new managing partner for both the Trenton and Newark, N.J., offices, the firm said in a string of press releases since Friday. Three of the four new appointees are women and two are Hispanic. Blanca Quintero now leads the San Diego office, Anne L. Cook has taken the helm in Dallas, and Tia Ghattas is managing the Chicago office, while Rafael Perez is heading up the Trenton and Newark offices. They replace former managing partners James Tarman, Kevin Haas, and Lawrence Bowman in Chicago, the New Jersey cities, and Dallas, respectively. While Joann Selleck is stepping down as managing partner of San Diego, she will continue as the head of the San Francisco office. The firm’s partners “decided to update the management structure just in terms of office managing partners,” after some managing partners decided to step down and focus on their practices, said Anne Lotz, a spokeswoman for the firm. From those changes flowed other new appointments, she said. The firm tapped Ann Thornton Field to lead the general litigation department, replacing Bowman, and Kevin J. Hughes was selected as the new vice chair of its subrogation and recovery department with Scott Reid picked to lead the diversity committee, Lotz said. Bowman will still serve on the firm’s management committee. Cozen, founded in 1970, has about 500 attorneys in 23 offices, including London and Toronto.
