BOSTON — A grand jury in Suffolk County Massachusetts indicted attorney Bruce Namenson for four counts of larceny, larceny by embezzlement and forgery, for allegedly stealing mortgage payments from a loan company and forging a signature on a check. According to Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office, Namenson allegedly committed the fraud while acting as closing attorney for a residential real estate sale in September 2007. The attorney general’s office said Namenson, a Walpole, Mass., resident, fraudulently changed the balance on one of the property’s two outstanding mortgages and listed a third fictitious mortgage on the property. Namenson paid the seller but not the outstanding $130,000 mortgage with purchase funds wired to his business account from the buyer’s lender. Namenson’s arraignment is scheduled for April 29 in Suffolk Superior Court. Namenson, who practices at Namenson & Associates in Quincy, Mass., did not return a call for comment. Namenson’s attorney Martin K. Leppo of Leppo & Leppo of Brockton, Mass., declined to comment.
