Diane Chin, the associate director of the Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, has been named the director of the West Coast office of Equal Justice Works. Equal Justice Works operates the largest postgraduate legal fellowship program in the nation. Chin, a civil rights attorney, starts today and will be based in San Francisco, which is the organization’s first office outside of Washington. She will focus on programs in California, including training, working with alumni and collaborating with the state’s 31 fellows, who work at several legal services organizations. She also will help select fellows from the 22 law schools in California that are members of Equal Justice Works. Before joining Boalt Hall, Chin was director of the John and Terry Levin Center for Public Service and Public Interest, and a lecturer, at Stanford Law School.
