WASHINGTON � Marlene Mitchell Gordon, former vice president, assistant general counsel for Burger King Brands, Inc., has joined Kelley Drye & Warren as of counsel in the firm’s advertising law and intellectual property & technology practice groups in its Washington office. The firm also announced it has expanded its government relations and public policy practice group with the addition of former Clinton administration official Lisa S. Andrews and Capitol Hill veteran Joan Galvin. During her corporate legal career, which spanned 13 years, Gordon provided strategic direction and legal counsel on a range of marketing, advertising, and intellectual property matters for large multinational corporations. In her role as vice president, assistant general counsel for Burger King Brands, she was the principal legal counsel responsible for Burger King’s global marketing initiatives and global trademark, domain name, and patent portfolios. At Kelley Drye, Gordon practices in the area of advertising and promotions law, including sweepstakes and contests; sponsorships; rights research and acquisition; data protection; and privacy and security compliance. Andrews, who served as deputy assistant secretary for public liaison at the U.S. Department of Treasury during the Clinton administration, joins the group as special counsel. She will leverage her experience regarding financial services issues to advocate on behalf of client interests before the U.S. Congress and federal agencies. Her experience in providing strategic advice goes beyond the nation’s capital. As senior vice-president of ACC Capital, she developed and managed a sophisticated national government affairs program and lobbied and testified before state legislatures on subprime mortgage lending and consumer protection legislation. In addition to financial services. Galvin, who will be senior advisor to the practice group, has extensive experience relating to appropriations. At Kelley Drye, she will plan and execute strategic initiatives to secure state and federal funding.� In addition , she will lobby at the federal, state, and international levels on a wide range of issues, including agriculture, biotechnology, marine science, transportation, and wildlife and environmental matters.�
