Dreier LLP has opened a Pittsburgh office with the hiring of three sports attorneys who represent Major League Baseball players in an investigation into performance-enhancing drugs. Jay Reisinger and Thomas Farrell, both partners at Pittsburgh-based Reich, Alexander, Reisinger & Farrell, have joined Dreier’s Sports Practice as partners. Valerie Antonette, who was an associate, joins Dreier as an associate. Reisinger and Farrell are advising Major League Baseball players that have been targeted in an investigation by former Senator George Mitchell, D-Maine, into performance-enhancing drugs. Specifically, they represent New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte in upcoming Congressional hearings related the investigation. They also advised Texas Rangers designated hitter Sammy Sosa during a 2005 Congressional hearings on the use of steroids in Major League Baseball. Reisinger represents professional athletes and coaches in salary arbitration proceedings. He represents athletes in contracts, disciplinary actions and civil and criminal matters. Farrell focuses on white-collar criminal defense. Antonette represents athletes in salary arbitration proceedings, contracts and grievance proceedings and focuses on criminal defense and sports law. Dreier’s Sports Practice represents athletes in the selection of services professionals, such as accountants, agents, financial advisors and public relations firms.
