TRENTON — The chief counsel to New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine is joining Lowenstein Sandler as a partner in the litigation department. Kenneth H. Zimmerman, legal advisor to the Corzine administration since 2006, was responsible for legislation, judicial and prosecutorial appointments, and oversight of independent authorities. He oversaw a staff of 14 attorneys who reviewed all legislative proposals, drafted executive orders, assessed and approved regulations, and provided ethics and other legal advice. Prior to his work for the governor, Zimmerman was executive director of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, the Newark-based urban advocacy and research organization started in 1999 by Alan V. Lowenstein, founding partner of Lowenstein Sandler. Gary M. Wingens, Lowenstein’s incoming managing partner, said Zimmerman “will contribute greatly to the firm’s work, and especially enrich the firm’s focus on pro bono and public policy activities.” Corzine praised Zimmerman for public service “with dignity, honor, and integrity.”
