Michael Dorf, a professor at Columbia Law School, has joined Dewey & LeBoeuf as special counsel in its litigation department. Dorf, who teaches courses in civil procedure, constitutional law and federal courts, will work in the firm’s New York office. He received his juris doctor degree from Harvard Law School and is admitted to practice in New York. In July, he will leave Columbia Law School to join Cornell Law School. “My primary professional role (both at Columbia for the duration of the current academic year and at Cornell beginning in July) remains that of scholar and teacher,” Dorf posted on his blog, Dorf on Law, “but in forging an ongoing relationship with a law firm, I’m hoping to continue to bridge what I regard as a widening gap between the world of practicing lawyers and the academic world.”
