BRYAN CAVE Corey Gay, 35, has joined the Washington office of Bryan Cave as an associate in the firm’s corporate finance and securities group. He was most recently an associate at Sidley Austin in New York. Gay earned his J.D. from the College of William and Mary’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law.
CAPLIN & DRYSDALE John Breen will join the D.C. office of Caplin & Drysdale as a partner in the firm’s transfer pricing practice. He is currently a branch head in the Chief Counsel’s Office of the Internal Revenue Service. Breen, 47, earned his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law.
COOLEY GODWARD KRONISH Two associates in the Reston, Va., office of Cooley Godward Kronish will be elevated to partner effective Jan. 1. Andrew Lustig, 34, will be a partner in the firm’s business department. He earned his J.D. from the College of William and Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law. Erik Milch, 36, will be a partner in the firm’s patent counseling and prosecution group. He received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law.
COVINGTON & BURLING Jonathan Marcus has joined Covington & Burling’s D.C. office as of counsel in the firm’s appellate and Supreme Court litigation group. He was previously an assistant to the solicitor general in the Solicitor General’s Office. Marcus, 38, earned his J.D. at Yale Law School.
DRINKER BIDDLE & REATH Ingrid Smith has joined the Washington office of Drinker Biddle & Reath as a senior attorney in the firm’s insurance group. She was previously senior legal counsel at AIU, a subsidiary of AIG. Smith, 39, received her J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law.
HOLLAND & KNIGHT Steven Taub, 45, has joined Holland & Knight’s D.C. office as a partner in the firm’s litigation section. He was most recently counsel at Crowell & Moring. Taub received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
PALEY ROTHMAN Two associates have joined the Bethesda, Md., firm Paley Rothman. Steven Goldberg, 33, is an associate in the firm’s bankruptcy and creditors’ rights and litigation practices. He was previously a clerk for Judge Nancy Alquist of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland. Goldberg earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Tracey Perrick is an associate in the firm’s litigation, family law, and appellate practices. She was previously a clerk for Judge Patrick Woodward of the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland. Perrick, 27, received her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
PUBLIC BROADCASTING SERVICE Gena Ashe was named vice president and deputy general counsel of the Public Broadcasting Service. She is based at the PBS headquarters in Arlington, Va. Ashe, 46, joined PBS from Darden Restaurants, where she was senior associate general counsel. Ashe received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
STEPTOE & JOHNSON Richard Verma has rejoined the D.C. office of Steptoe & Johnson as a partner in the firm’s government affairs and public policy practice and its international regulation and compliance practice. Verma, 39, most recently served as senior national security adviser to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) but had previously been at Steptoe. Verma earned his J.D. at American University’s Washington College of Law.
THOMPSON HINE Matthew Nicely, 43, has joined Thompson Hine’s D.C. office as a partner in the firm’s international trade and customs group. He was previously counsel at Vinson & Elkins. Nicely received his J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law.
WHITEFORD, TAYLOR & PRESTON Enayat Qasimi has joined the Washington office of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston as a partner in the firm’s business and corporate practice and in its global practice. He was most recently general counsel and senior vice president at the investment banking firm Swicorp but has previously been an attorney in Whiteford, Taylor & Preston’s Baltimore office. Qasimi, 36, earned his J.D. at the University of Maryland Law School. — Marisa McQuilken
