Beatty & Wozniak, a firm specializing in oil and natural gas clients, has hired five attorneys from Pruitt Gushee, a natural resources firm based in Salt Lake City. Beatty & Wozniak, which is based in Denver, plans to open a Salt Lake City office on Jan. 1. Senior lawyer Fred MacDonald will help open the Salt Lake City office, which will include Cheryl Dunne, a paralegal. MacDonald represents oil and gas companies in Utah, advising them on Indian leasing and on regulatory issues, acquisition, exploration, development and operation of properties. He is an expert on coal bed methane extraction. Two other lawyers from Pruitt Gushee, Relma Miller and Tony Hunter, will join MacDonald in Salt Lake City. Another senior lawyer, Rob Thompson, a litigator for issues relating to Indian and public lands, will head the firm’s public lands group, which will focus on resource development on Indian lands. He will work in Denver along with Matt Crockett, another attorney from Pruitt Gushee. The public lands group will focus on resource development on Indian lands and will be part of the firm’s oil and natural gas practice.
