AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION The American Bar Association announced three appointments. V. Gerard Comizio was appointed chairman of the trust and investment services subcommittee of the American Bar Association’s banking law section. Comizio is a partner in Thacher Proffitt & Wood’s corporate and financial services practice in Washington. Paul Smith has become a member of the American Bar Association’s new Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. Smith is a partner in Jenner & Block’s litigation department, and is resident in the firm’s Washington office. Donna Wilson was appointed co-chairwoman of the bankruptcy and insolvency subcommittee of the insurance coverage litigation committee of the American Bar Association’s litigation section. Wilson is a litigation partner in Kelley Drye & Warren’s insurance recovery, and consumer and merchant financial services practices in Washington.
BARNES & THORNBURG Richard Streeter has been named to Barnes & Thornburg’s management committee for 2008. Streeter is managing partner of the firm’s D.C. office.
INTERNATIONAL TRADEMARK ASSOCIATION Kristina Rosette was awarded the International Trademark Association’s 2007 volunteer service award for the advancement of the association. Rosette is special counsel in Covington & Burling’s Washington office.
NATIONAL WOMEN’S LAW CANTER Margaret Claybour has been selected for membership to the National Women’s Law Center Leadership 35 advisory committee. The committee is made up of lawyers around the age of 35 who discuss issues that affect women and their families. Claybour is an associate in Winston & Strawn’s Washington office.
PEN USA Charles Tobin received PEN USA’s 2007 Award of Honor in recognition of his defense of journalists against federal subpoenas and other actions. PEN USA is a nonprofit organization of writers. Tobin is a partner in Holland & Knight’s Washington office, and chairman of the firm’s national media practice. � Marisa McQuilken
