CHICAGO Jones Day named Dan Reidy, a litigator in its Chicago office and a former assistant U.S. attorney, to become the new partner-in-charge of that 170-lawyer office. Reidy will take the post on Jan. 1, 2008, and the current partner in that position, Bill Ritchie, will step down and take “a firmwide financial management role,” the firm said in a release. Reidy, 58, has been an attorney in the Chicago office since it opened 20 years ago and Ritchie, 61, has held the lead post for the same period. Lee Ann Russo, another litigator at the firm who specializes in securities matters, will take the new title of office administrative partner to help Reidy manage the office and allow him to keep up his work on civil litigation, white-collar defense, and regulatory enforcement issues, the firm said. Reidy was a federal prosecutor in the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago from 1975 to 1987 prior to joining Jones Day, he said. He was first assistant U.S. Attorney and chief of special prosecutions, leading a major investigation into judicial corruption in the state during the 1980s that was known as Operation Greylord.
