Three intellectual property partners and one associate specializing in biotechnology work jumped to Cambridge, Mass.-based Lowrie, Lando & Anastasi from Fish & Richardson. The attorneys from Fish’s Boston office are joining Lowrie Lando between early and mid December. Fish principals Diana M. Collazo, Laurie Butler Lawrence and Louis Myers are joining Lowrie Lando as partners. The trio are also bringing associate Cathy McCarty. Lowrie Lando is also in the process of hiring more associates to support the new group, possibly including more lawyers from Fish. “We think it’s really a great thing for us and a ratification of our firm model,” said Lowrie Lando co-founder and partner Matthew Lowrie. The firm, which has 27 attorneys before the Fish group arrives, has attracted attorneys interested in a less pressurized work environment. The firm requires associates to bill 1,600 hours per year. The move benefits lawyers on both sides because Lowrie Lando doesn’t have many major biotech clients and the lawyers from Fish will be able to charge their clients lower hourly rates, Lowrie said. “It does a lot for them and their clients in terms of the way we provide value,” Lowrie said.
