Chicago Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal has hired a group of four litigators in its Charlotte, N.C., office from Nelson Mullins Riley and Scarbouough, the firm said. The group of commercial business litigators is led by new partner Fred M. Wood, Jr., and also includes partner C. Marshall Lindsay, of counsel Virginia ‘Ginger’ Theis Daly and associate Evan M. Sauda. Wood, who was the Nelson Mullins hiring partner for the Charlotte office, said in an interview that he was attracted by the broader geographical platform of Sonnenschein and the “entrepreneurial spirit” of the attorneys at the firm. The litigators have more extensive experience in the areas of telecommunications, reinsurance and “straight-up business disputes,” Wood said. He declined to name clients or cases that he might bring with him to the firm. The litigators were also interested in joining the firm because they formerly worked with the group of Sonnenschein attorneys who in April opened the firm’s office in Charlottte.
