BOSTON – Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge announced plans to merger with London’s Kendall Freeman in January. The firms said the merger will boost their insurance and reinsurance practices and also offer synergies to the commercial litigation and corporate practices. “This is a fantastic opportunity that will add value to many of the services our firms provide to clients in the financial services sector, in particular in the insurance and reinsurance industries,” said co-managing partner and Boston attorney Terrence M. Finn. Finn and Charles E. DeWitt, who is also a Boston-based Edwards Angell lawyer, will continue to serve as co-managing partners and Laurence Harris will be partner-in-charge of the firm’s London office. Edwards Angell partner Alan J. Levin, who works in the Hartford and New York offices, and Kendall Freeman senior partner David Kendall will chair the 100-attorney insurance & reinsurance department. The combined firm will have more than 600 lawyers in 11 offices.
