Marcia Coyle / Staff reporter WASHINGTON Turnover continues in the Office of the Solicitor General of the United States as Sri Srinivasan, an assistant to the solicitor general, joins O’Melveny & Myers as a partner in the firm’s appellate practice in the Washington office. Srinivasan is, in a sense, “coming home” to O’Melveny where he started his law firm career in 1998 after a clerkship with Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. He joined the Office of the Solicitor General in 2002. He has argued 12 cases before the Supreme Court on behalf of the United States, including some of the most important cases for business. Most recently, he has been recognized by leaders in the banking industry for his successful arguments in Watters v. Wachovia Bank, N.A. (2007) and in Wachovia Bank, N.A. v. Schmidt (2006). Srinivasan has also briefed critically important national security cases in the Supreme Court and in lower federal courts. Walter Dellinger, chair of the firm’s appellate practice, said, “Sri is widely recognized as one of the best Supreme Court advocates in the bar today. His expertise will be invaluable to our public company and financial institution clients.” Srinivasan received his law degree from Stanford Law School in 1995, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif, and his M.B.A. from Stanford Business School in 1995.
