The state of Georgia will be seeking a temporary injunction in one of three cases that comprise the so-called water wars between Georgia, Florida and Alabama, which has lasted nearly 20 years with no end in sight. The state wants to stop the release of water from Lake Lanier to help downstream species of mussels and Gulf sturgeon, saying that the water is needed for Georgians. But a law professor says getting around the Endangered Species Act, or the "pit bull of environmental law," will be tough.
