Lovells, the London-based firm, is starting a U.S. patent litigation practice focused mainly in the life sciences area and is bringing on two new partners in its New York office and a team of junior lawyers to support the endeavor. The firm said that it has hired David Leichtman, 38, and Veronica Mullally, 50, as partners to found the practice. Leichtman, who has experience in pharmaceutical patent litigation against generic drug manufacturers and has worked in other technology areas as well, comes to Lovells from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. Mullaly, who has experience trying cases related to pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical devices, is migrating from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. The new team includes one of counsel attorney, five associates and a scientific advisor, all of whom have worked with the two partners in the past. The new of counsel is Hillel I. Parness and the five new associates are Bryan J. Vogel, Gonzalo S. Zeballos, M. Eileen O’Connor, Aviva J. Halpern and Derek J. Craig. The advisor is Kevin E. Moses. Lovells operates from 26 offices throughout the world, including a U.S. presence in New York and Chicago.
