DLA Piper attorney Alastair Da Costa will become the firm’s managing director of Asia next year when Nick Seddon steps down from the role and eventually leaves the firm in May “to pursue opportunities outside the firm,” DLA Piper said in a release. Da Costa, who is currently the head of the firm’s corporate group for Europe Middle East and Africa, will move to Asia from London to take the new post and work closely with Seddon in the transition, the firm said. Juan Picon, a DLA attorney in Madrid who is the regional managing partner of the firm’s Spanish practice, will succeed Da Costa while Javier Lopez Anton, who is currently head of the finance and projects group in Madrid, in turn takes over Picon’s job. All of the changes will be effective on the first day of next year. Under Seddon’s leadership over the past four years, the firm expanded its practice in Asia to more than 400 employees in six offices from 150 in four offices when he started in 2004, the firm said. There was no further information available from the firm about Seddon’s future employment.
