After 22 years in public service, Peter Zeidenberg has left the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section for DLA Piper. “It was a combination of personal relationships and reputation that brought him to us,” says Ann Ford, the managing partner of the firm’s D.C. office. Zeidenberg boosts DLA’s white-collar practice in the District, and he plans to make good use of the firm’s international capabilities. “Hopefully, I’ll be able to bring my experience with the Department of Justice and my experience in doing investigations to bear, so that I can not only find out what happened but also explain the potential ramifications,” Zeidenberg says. Since joining Public Integrity in 2001, he has helped prosecute high-level officials such as David Safavian, the former chief of staff of the General Services Administration, and I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby Jr. On why he left Justice, he says he decided to move to private practice after the Libby trial and that his move was unrelated to the U.S. attorney scandal that has rocked Justice. “Obviously, it’s upsetting and somewhat demoralizing to read about, but it had nothing to do with my decision,” he says.
