SAN FRANCISCO James Cowan has joined PERKINS COIE as a partner in the finance group. Cowan comes to the firm from Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner. He is a 1992 graduate of Hastings College of the Law. SILICON VALLEY MCDERMOTT, WILL & EMERY has added Rick Chang as a partner in the Palo Alto office. Chang, who comes to the firm from Howrey, is a member of the intellectual property, media and technology department. He received his J.D. from Hastings College of the Law in 2000. Harold DeGraff has joined PERKINS COIE as a partner in the Menlo Park office. DeGraff, who was previously with Greenberg Traurig, is a member of the national business practice. Dern, who is based in Los Angeles, is an arbitrator and mediator in both labor and commercial matters. He graduated from Stanford Law School in 1953. KLINEDINST has added Lyndon Hong as an associate in the Los Angeles office. Hong, who was previously with Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley & Jennett, focuses on complex business litigation. He received his J.D. from New York Law School in 1999. Kevin Mayer has joined LINER YANKELEVITZ SUNSHINE & REGENSTREIF as a partner in the Los Angeles office. Mayer, who comes to the firm from Steptoe & Johnson, focuses on complex commercial, mass tort, toxic tort, OSHA, environmental and products liability litigation. He is a 1984 graduate of Hastings College of the Law. MASUDA, FUNAI, EIFERT & MITCHELL has elevated Grant Nigolian to partner. Nigolian, who is based in Los Angeles, focuses his practice on business and commercial litigation. He graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1996.
