Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati added Adam Sak as partner in the outsourcing and IT procurement practice in Palo Alto, Calif. Sak previously served as a founding member of the transaction architecture and negotiations management practice at EquaTerra. As leader of the outsourcing advisory group, Sak was the lead commercial adviser in structuring, negotiations and implementation of strategic business process outsourcing and information technology outsourcing transactions throughout the world. He also advised clients on request for proposal development, contracts strategy and emerging outsourcing standards and trends.

FIRM MERGERS

Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis has announced that it is in merger discussions with Hughes & Luce, a Dallas-based law firm with about 150 attorneys. The possible combination, which would occur by the end of the year, would give K&L Gates a presence in Dallas, Fort Worth and Austin and create a law firm of about 1,500 lawyers in the United States, Europe and Asia. K&L Gates Chairman Peter Kalis noted in the announcement that more than 10% of the Fortune 1000 companies are located in Texas. Merger talks began in the spring. Votes by the firms’ partners are expected in the fall.
