Los Angeles environmental and energy attorney Les Lo Baugh joined Houston-based Fulbright & Jaworski as a partner in its Los Angeles office. Lo Baugh, who has worked as general counsel for gas and power companies in California and New York, recently left Christensen, Glaser, Fink, Jacobs, Weil & Shapiro of Los Angeles to join Fulbright & Jaworski, according to a statement issued by the firm. Lo Baugh joined the law departments of Pacific Lighting and Southern California Gas in 1975, where he handled regulatory, federal gas supply and pipeline cases, including the Alaska gas pipeline case, according to Fulbright’s release. In the mid-1980s, he became general counsel of Pacific Enterprises, where he had overall responsibility for legal matters including oil, gas, alternative energy, utilities, real estate, and pipelines. He led the divestiture of non-energy related companies and assets, as well as acquisitions in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Europe. Lo Baugh also headed the legal team in the merger of Pacific Enterprises with Enova, which created Sempra Energy Co. He later became general counsel to New York’s Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., where he was responsible for selling five fossil fuel generation plants, 71 hydro plants, two nuclear power plants and Niagara’s sale to National Grid, a British holding company, and also resolved a number of legal matters involving Native American tribes.
