Clifford Chance partner Karl Roessner says that his firm promotes diversity in the workforce, beginning with summer associates, by sponsoring a program that supports the development of economically disadvantaged law students. The Clifford Chance Scholars Program aims to offset advantages that many law students have through their families' professional and personal connections. Those connections, which Clifford Chance scholars often lack, help provide students with insight into the study and practice of law.

One of the best ways to encourage a diverse workforce is to start with summer associates. To that end, we introduced a program in 2006 to support the development of economically disadvantaged law students.
