NEW POSITIONS . . . Paul M. Jolas, deputy general counsel in charge of corporate and transactions for Trinity Industries Inc. of Dallas, has been elected as corporate secretary to the company’s board of directors. Jolas succeeds Michael Fortado, who will serve as special counsel to the board until he retires in the fall of 2008. . . . Charles W. Miller has joined the Law Offices of Heygood, Orr, Reyes & Bartolomei in Dallas as a partner. His practice will focus on complex commercial litigation. He was previously with McKool Smith. . . . Two new partners and four associates have been named by the Austin environmental firm Lloyd, Gosselink, Blevins, Rochelle & Townsend. New partners are Michael A. Rick Perry has appointed P. Mike McCullough, a partner in Thompson & Knight in Dallas, to the Texas Woman’s University board of regents. The state Senate has confirmed the appointment. AWARDS . . . John M. O’Quinn of the O’Quinn Law Firm in Houston has been recognized by the Child Safety Network, California State PTA and National PTA for his efforts related to the prevention of child abuse, abduction, injury and exploitation. . . . Griffith & Nixon of Dallas has received the 2007 Star Award for Service Professional of the Year from the Quoin chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America. . . . Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas has awarded the Austin office of Locke Liddell & Sapp the Joseph H. Hart Award in recognition of its pro bono work and financial support for the pro bono program. . . . Tarrant County District Attorney Tim Curry has received the Blackstone Award, the highest honor given by the Tarrant County Bar Association. The award is given to lawyers who are older than 65, have practiced law in the county for at least 15 years, and have shown consistent ability, integrity and courage. ELECTIONS . . . Travis Vanderpool, senior counsel at Hunton & Williams in Dallas, was elected chairman of the State Bar of Texas board of directors. He will assume the position during the Bar’s annual meeting June 21-22 in San Antonio. . . . Amie G. Berg, an associate with Baker Hostetler in Houston, has been elected to a two-year term as director of The Woodlands Bar Association. Berg’s practice focuses on commercial and business litigation.
