Antonio R. Zamora, a veteran of Cuban law and policy, has joined the Miami office of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey. The firm, which has about 800 lawyers in 30 offices around the world, said it is preparing for the anticipated opening of the Cuban market due to growing support for change in U.S. policy toward the Caribbean country. The firm said industries such as agriculture and energy view Cuba as a target for trade and investment. Zamora, who is of counsel with Squire Sanders, came from the Miami office of New York’s Hughes Hubbard & Reed. He is president of the U.S./Cuba Legal Forum, author of several articles on the Cuban legal system and a frequent lecturer on international legal issues. Over the last 10 years, he has researched Cuban law and developed contacts in the Cuban legal community, according to the firm.
