SAN FRANCISCO — Four associates specializing in real estate, land use and environment practice have jumped from Steefel, Levitt & Weiss to join San Francisco’s land use practice at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton in the last month. They join two land use heavy-hitters who left Steefel in early April for Los Angeles-based Sheppard Mullin, Judy Davidoff and Arthur Friedman. Sheppard’s 75-lawyer real estate group is currently third largest in California. Among the four associates added to the Sheppard practice is Alexis Pelosi, niece-in-law of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco. The team handles state and federal land use and environmental matters, including compliance with federal environmental quality law, endangered species, water law, coastal matters, public land permitting, initiatives and referendums and litigation. The four include Pelosi, William Fleishhacker, Miriam Montesinos and Elizabeth Sibbett. Davidoff joined the San Francisco Bay Area practice having worked on a wide variety of land use projects throughout California. Friedman, has extensive experience in litigating real estate and commercial issues in California Courts of Appeal. Sheppard Mullin has 490 lawyers in 10 offices in California, New York, Washington and Shanghai.
