Philip Urofsky, former assistant chief of the fraud section of the U.S. Department of Justice’s criminal division, rejoined Shearman & Sterling’s Washington office in the litigation group, after spending two years at the Washington office of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. He will focus on white collar crime and regulatory matters, particularly Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) issues. “During Philip’s 12 years of broad experience at the Department of Justice, he gained the distinction of having tried more FCPA matters than any other Justice attorney, appearing many times before the federal Courts of Appeal,” said Danforth Newcomb, leading FCPA partner at Shearman & Sterling. “He was also a principal drafter of the Department’s original guidelines on the prosecution of business organizations. His presence in our Washington office will further expand our firm’s global FCPA practice.”
