NATIONAL COUNCIL ON THE ARTS Stephen Porter was nominated by President George W. Bush to serve as a member of the National Council on the Arts. The council advises the chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts on federal grants, funding guidelines, policy matters, and the agency’s budget. In addition, the council recommends groups and individuals for the National Medal of the Arts. The position is a six-year term ending in 2012. Porter is a senior counsel at Arnold & Porter, where he practices real estate, tax, and corporate law. — Attila Berry
